Amie is a Principal in the Trade and Customs Practice for KPMG LLP. Based in Washington, DC / Tyson’s Corner, VA, Amie’s practices focuses on supporting multinational companies with global trade and customs risk management, including export and sanctions compliance.

Amie actively assists clients in vetting risks through the assessment of trade processes; identification of compliance gaps and inefficiencies in light of the evolving regulatory framework governing exports and sanctions; and analysis of areas of potential exposure. Amie further supports clients’ compliance objectives with: implementing plans of corrective actions for identified risks; documenting efficient and scalable trade processes; developing enhanced controls; and establishing an effective and import and export strategy which often includes trade automation.

Examples of recent projects that Amie led include: a 2017 assessment for the second DDTC consent agreement for a large aerospace and defence company; a sanctions health check in the Oracle Watchlist Screening application for an oil and gas company; a Phase Zero data and process review for a chemical company prior to implementation of an automated export management solution; developing an export and sanctions compliance programme for a global industrial manufacturer; and providing compliance guidance to clients on proposed transactions in Iran and Sudan.

Finally, within KPMG, Amie serves as the trade and customs leader of the firm’s internal communities focused on Industrial Manufacturing and Aerospace and Defence. Amie also co-leads an initiative to support universities and exempt organisations with export compliance.

Amie holds a Juris Doctorate from the University Of Texas School Of Law and is a licensed customs broker. Amie is a member of the Aerospace Industries Association, the National Association of Manufacturers, Comp TIA, and the Society of International Affairs. Amie serves as an adjunct professor in the area of global indirect taxation at the Georgetown University School of Law in Washington, DC.
